Dubai And Its Floating Villas Further Proves The City To Be The City Of The Future, Today!

It was not too long ago that Dubai proposed plans to build a colony of floating homes. It looked awesome and most was intrigued although there probably were not many who were not at least a bit skeptical. Well now they are here, proving and that Dabai is one of the most fascinating cities in the world.

The floating villas are called “Floating Seahorse” homes and while only a few are completed they are looking to make a whole colony of them.

When the story broke that these floating house were in development the rendered photos made the idea seem out of this world, perhaps even impossible in this life time. While in the illustration the artist took liberties making the coral that surrounded look extra vibrant, accompanied by a sea turtle fish to vividly colored for this world, that finished product comes close to what was promised; a submerged master bedroom with glass walls, a Jacuzzi with a glass floor, a reef habitat (artificial) wrapped around the base of the home. The home looks like it came straight from dream.

The rendered photos made the concept seemed unbelievable but now that these “floating seahorses” are here, we are now believers and those who have actually visited the villas said they are even more spectacular in person.

The houses are fully furnished and the only thing that is missing now is the coral garden. The developer Kleindienst Group is in charge of building the coral garden. Their goal in the first phase is to have 42 of these floating villas, a whole community of “floating seahorses” which are said to basically be boats without the propulsion. The structures will be immobile and will be kept with the artificial islands in The Heart Of Europe, which is part of “The World.” The 42 structures should be finished by the end of this year and with the company already being sold out to investors they look to have the second phase of the project completed which will include a total of 131 homes.

Those in charge of the project have stated that they are environmentally conscious, claiming that they are interested in protecting sea life in the Persian Gulf.

“We will create an artificial coral reef beneath the luxury retreats which will be a protected area in which seahorses can safely live and breed.”

The coral garden will of course be artificial and is still under construction so no one knows for sure if it will make for a viable habitat. If it does serve as a home for sea animals then these dreamy floating houses will truly match the early composite made up when the plan was proposed.
