Living the life of a rock star is a lifestyle that many aspire towards. The money and fame alone are enough to make most people see it as one of the greatest ways to live. But many times times these rock stars party a bit too much. Check out some rock stars who partied way too hard.

It may come as a shock to some that Sir Elton John makes this list, when he was in fact known for getting pretty crazy in the prime of his career. He even claims that one time he took a total of 60 valuums all at once which would kill mot people, but he is still alive and performing today.

Jerry Garcia

The lead singer and guitarist for the band The Grateful Dead was Jerry Garcia. They are known as one of the wildest groups ever playing trippy style music for their fans. Garcia struggled with cocaine and heroin addictions for the majority of his career but unfortunately passed away from a heart attack in 1995.

Iggy Pop was a rock star who was well known for his wild performances where he would often mutilate himself in front of his audience. Even though the rock star struggled with a heroin addiction he is surprisingly still well and alive today. It has been a few years now actually that he has been living a clean and sober lifestyle.

Jim Morrison had some pretty intense party habits which contributed to his young death at the age of 27. He would use LSD quite often and mix it with alcohol which is a very dangerous combination of drugs especially with Morrison suffering with chronic depression. His death even occurred at a party where he was found in a bathroom dead from an overdose.

One of the greatest of all time and most respected musicians to this very day is the one and only Johnny Cash. He was another star that was known for his addiction to pills and women. Fortunately Cash was able to achieve sobriety with a strong support staff and was able to live a full life before he passed in 2003 from diabetes related complications.

Janis Joplin was one of the first female rock stars to come along. With her success came the drug and alcohol abuse. She was known for not being able to stop her wild partying habits. Even though her legacy still lives on today she unfortunately passed away at the very young age of 27 years old.

The band known as The Who had a drummer by the name of Keith Moon. Moon was known by many as one of the hardest partiers on the planet. Unfortunately for Moon most of his crazy stories derived from the fact that he was an alcoholic. He tried to treat his disease but it unfortunately ended up taking his life.

Even though Jimi Hendrix had a relatively short career he is still known as being one of the greatest musicians ever. He had a very bad problem with alcohol which did not help with his already short temper. He was known of getting into fights in public and even struck his own girlfriend once. His party came to an end when he was found dead one morning after drowning in his vomit.

His party came to end though in the 90's after he was arrested for kidnapping a girl and forcing her to do drugs and participate in sexual activities. A heart failure claimed his life in 2004 which came as a result of the many years of partying and drug abuse.

Sid Vicious was he lead singer for the Sex Pistols. Vicious was very infamous for his wild lifestyle. He was also known for cutting himself on stage and ripping his clothes off regardless of where he was at the time. After an insane night of partying he was found the next morning in bed aside his dead girlfriend who he had stabbed the night before. While he was awaiting trial he died from a heroin overdose.

Stevie Nicks had a very intense cocaine addiction early in her career even though today she is still viewed as a music legend. Her addiction was so bad that she caused long term damage to her nostrils from how much cocaine she snorted. Amazingly enough she is still alive today and even still performs. Waylon Jennings made his career in country music and was infamous for his crazy cocaine and pill addiction. He actually spent some time living with Johnny Cash who was also known for his pill habits. Jennings was strong enough to eventually overcome his addiction and would die late in his life peacefully while sleeping.
