Boeing YAL-1

Here are twenty different powerful weapons that have been made by different countries around the world. From the heavy German guns of World War II to some of the most advanced missile systems of the United States. There are many different types of weapons systems that do a variety of destruction.

This is the Boeing YAL-1 which was used as a test run for mounting a laser on a plane and using to destroy ballistic missiles. She was able to destroy two test missiles in 2010 and in December of 2011 the program was canceled. The reason for the cancellation was that if they wanted the YAL to perform in combat situations she would need a laser 3 to 4 times the size to destroy enemy vehicles or objects, this would cost the program more money so it was cancelled.

Chimera Virus

This is the dangerous chemical called the Chimera Virus which was a virus that was put into other viruses such as smallpox. When examining the cell it would only show the smallpox, disguising the other virus. This was studied by the Soviets during the 80's and were know to make a chemical weapon out of the virus. This is a very deadly man made chemical that should never be used in warfare.

GBU-43/B Massive Ordinance Air Blast

Also know as the "mother of all bombs" this is a large bomb produced by the United States, this is used for both the US and Royal Air Force. This bomb has 11 tons of TNT and is considered the most powerful non nuclear bomb to this day. This is usually used for high priority targets or multiple enemy targets.

Fat Man and Little Boy

Here are the two infamous bombs that fell on Japan during WWII. The Little Boy was the first atomic bomb ever used and was dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. Little Boy was fueled by uranium and had an explosive force of 15,000 tons of TNT. The Fat Man was dropped on the Japanese city of Nagasaki on August 9, 1945. The result of these two bombs opened the eyes to the world on how powerful one nation can be.

This is the Russian's highly advanced anti-ship cruise missile that capable of sinking any military cruiser. The missile was developed during the 1980's, since then the capabilities have increased in many ways such as engaging land, sea and air. These bad boys are being stationed on Russian military bases in Syria, in case of any potential threats.

P-270 Moskit

Another Russian made weapon, the P-270 Moskit is a supersonic anti-ship missile. This was in service during the 1980's and was used by other countries like China and Egypt. This crazy weapon reaches speeds up to Mach 3, and is powered by four ramjet engines.

The B53 nuclear bomb has the power of nine megatons of TNT, this was designed for bunker busting. When it was created it was the largest nuclear bomb that the US owned, now it is out of service and kept in a military museum. This was the scary reality of the Cold War and luckily tensions aren't as bad.

This was another thermonuclear warhead, that was developed by the United States during the Cold War. This was the most powerful nuclear weapon created by the US, having 25 megatons of power. The bomb was carried by the B-52 bomber and the B-47 Stratojet.

She was used during the invasion of the Soviet Union but was only used for a short time before it fell into Russian hands, this is notably the biggest weapon ever created.

This is used by many military and rebel groups mainly for the explosive firepower it has for such a portable weapon. This was the most brutal tactic back in the ancient and medieval times. Opponents would gather up the dead soldiers of the army that was being held under siege, they would then proceed to launch the dead bodies and parts into the city with catapults. Another monstrous artillery weapon made by the Germans in World War II, the Karl Gerat could shoot up to 6.2 miles away from its target. This weapon was also used in the invasion of the Soviet Union, it destroyed Soviet fortresses of Brest-Litovsk and Sevastopol. It was also used during the Battle of the Bulge and the bombardment of Poland.

Tsar Bomba

Also know as the "King of Bombs", the Tsar Bomba is a Soviet nuclear hydrogen bomb that was the largest nuclear weapon ever detonated. She weighed at 27 tons and had 50 megatons of TNT. It was tested in 1961 by the Russians and was the largest man made explosion in history, there was only one made.
